What is the QuikWeb Developer Platform?

The QuikWebEdit content management system (CMS) is designed to be easily installed on any existing web site and allows the client to begin editing content on their web site immediately. But QuikWebEdit is also well-suited for building entirely new web sites. To make this process as easy as possible, we provide the "QuikWeb Developer Platform", which is specifically designed for web developers to use in building new web sites in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

The QuikWeb Developer Platform is a toolkit that includes the following components:

The Guide provides detailed instructions on how to set up the structure of a new web site using "include" files that allow common site elements (such as headers and footers) to be maintained in a single location but used throughout the web site. You will also learn how to set up "editable regions" on web pages throughout the site to make it easy to control which portions of the web pages are edited by the client. The template fields and template commands built in to QuikWebEdit enable you to set up a rich and powerful editing environment for your client to use in managing their web site.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a critical part of any modern web site, and the QuikWeb SEO Developers Toolbar provides state-of-the-art SEO optimization tools. With the SEO Toolbar, you can easily manage "meta tags" and other page properties on individual pages or throughout the entire web site. Built-in analysis tools allow you to validate the entire web site for W3C syntax validation as well as hyperlink validation. It even includes a site-wide spell checker! Keyword density analysis helps you fine-tune the content on the web site to maximize the visibility of the web site to search engines. The SEO Toolbar also includes a powerful "Notes" system that allows you and the client to easily add "post-it" notes to any web page on the web site that are only visible within the editing environment.

The primary navigation of a web site, usually through a navigation menu of some kind, is one of the most important parts of a well-designed web site. But sophisticated menu implementations, such as drop-down menus or flash-based menus, are usually impossible for non-technical users to maintain. This makes adding new pages to a web site or re-arranging existing pages on a web site impossible for non-technical users to attempt. The QuikWeb Menu Editor provides the ideal solution to that problem. The Menu Editor can easily be integrated into a web site's navigation menu, even most Flash-based menus, and allows non-technical users an intuitive interface for adding and modifying the entire navigation structure of the web site. Adding new pages to the navigation is simple, and menu items can easily be moved around in the navigation using a sophisticated drag-and-drop interface.

The SEO Toolbar and Menu Editor are the initial QuikWebEdit add-ons that are included in the QuikWeb Developer Platform, which over time will grow to include many more add-ons as they are developed and added to the platform.
